The Government calls the next renewable energy auction in Spain for January 26

According to the order of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, a target quota of 3,000 MW is established, of which at least 1,000 MW will be photovoltaic and 1,000 MW will be wind.

New installations or expansions of existing installations that are located in the peninsular electricity system and whose storage system, if available, is used exclusively to store the energy produced in the installation, may participate in the auction.

The start of the auction calendar with the new Renewable Energy Economic Regime is essential to comply with the decarbonisation commitments that Spain has acquired in the Paris Agreement and as a Member State of the European Union. These commitments have been transferred to the National Integrated Climate Energy Plan (PNIEC) 2021-2030, which foresees the installation of around 60GW renewables in the next decade and which includes, among its measures, the development of this type of auctions
