According to the latest research carried out by IHS Markit, the next 5 years will be extremely positive for the renewable energy sector, as the following predictions show:
- 3 billion dollars in accumulated investment in the period 2021-2025 (54% in photovoltaic).
- The CAPEX of photovoltaic plants will be 40% lower in 2025 than in 2017.
- The CAPEX of onshore wind farms will be 20% lower in 2025 than in 2017.
- The CAPEX of offshore wind farms will be 15% lower in 2025 than in 2017.
- The new installed capacity will be increased by 45% in the 2021-2025 period compared to the 2015-2019 period.
- Global photovoltaic and wind capacity will surpass natural gas in 2023 and coal in 2024.
- Renewable energies will reach a share of 18% in the energy matrix in 2025.
