Last Thursday, 27 June, SÓLIDA had the honour of participating in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Valdezorita Photovoltaic Solar Park, organised by Abo Energy Spain. This milestone represents a crucial moment both for Abo Energy, as it is their first turnkey project in Spain, and for SÓLIDA, who has worked hand in hand with the company throughout the development process since its inception in 2019.

The Valdezorita project, located in the municipalities of Yebra, Zorita de los Canes, and Almonacid de Zorita (Guadalajara), is a clear example of energy transition in action. This solar park will replace part of the energy that was produced by the José Cabrera nuclear power plant after its decommissioning, providing electricity to 11,500 homes and contributing to the reduction of 53,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. This will be achieved thanks to its 86,562 photovoltaic modules equipped with innovative solar tracking technology adaptable to the terrain, giving it a peak capacity of 49.99 MW and producing more than 100 GWh per year.

Since 2019, SÓLIDA has worked intensively as the engineering firm responsible for the project, from the application for grid access and connection to obtaining all the documentation for the construction permit. However, their involvement has not been limited to the Valdezorita photovoltaic project; it also extends to the evacuation infrastructure that Abo Energy shares with other developers in a joint effort to minimise the ecological impact of the projects, as highlighted by Patricia Comes, Managing Director of Abo Energy Spain, during the presentation. SÓLIDA has carried out all the engineering and associated studies in the development and tender phases of both the Yebra substation and the evacuation lines and the position at the José Cabrera collector substation, with special relevance to the bathymetry for the directional drilling under the Tajo River, or the support for the purchase of the transformer or the EPC tender. Currently, in the construction phase, SÓLIDA serves as the Project Management and Owner’s Engineering.

“It is a pride to participate in this type of project that demonstrates the power of joint work (developers, engineering, contractors, Public Administration, landowners, among others involved), whose effort has contributed to overcoming various challenges and achieving a transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energies from which the entire region will benefit,” highlighted Andrés Medina, Business Development Director of SÓLIDA..

An example of this collaboration was the representation at the event, which was attended by the Abo Energy team, led by their Managing Director Patricia Comes, along with all the suppliers involved in the project, as well as authorities such as Mr. Alipio García, Director General of Energy Transition of Castilla-La Mancha; Mr. José Luis Escudero, Provincial Delegate of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha in Guadalajara; Mr. Rubén García, Provincial Delegate for Sustainable Development in Guadalajara, as well as mayors from the area..
