The event brought together the main actors of the photovoltaic sector to analyse the present and future of solar energy in Spain.
SÓLIDA participates in the XI Solar Forum of UNEF as an associated company
The XI Solar Forum of the Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF), held on the 9th and 10th of October 2024 at the Marriott Auditorium Hotel in Madrid, brought together more than 1,200 attendees, consolidating itself as the flagship event for the photovoltaic solar energy sector in Spain. Under the theme “Photovoltaic Energy, Engine of Industrialisation”, this year’s edition allowed participants to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sector in a time of significant regulatory and market changes.
During the forum, the Secretary of State for Energy, Sara Aagesen, highlighted the importance of the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC), emphasising the role of the photovoltaic sector in the Spanish industrial fabric and the need to place citizens at the heart of the energy transition. In this context, it is worth noting that today the new circular BOE-A-2024-20760 was published in the BOE, establishing new guidelines for the integration of renewables into the transmission network, facilitating the incorporation of renewable projects.
Meanwhile, Beatriz Corredor, President of Red Eléctrica de España (REE), announced an investment of 10 billion euros by 2030 to strengthen the Transmission Network (RdT) and ensure the integration of renewables required by the PNIEC. Additionally, Carlos Redondo, Secretary General of Energy at MITECO, revealed that capacity access tenders for 21 nodes in the RdT with the highest demand for applications will be published soon, of which REE has already granted 4 GW of demand.
The debates during the two days of the forum addressed critical topics for the future of the sector, such as the financing of renewable energies and the pricing system, which remains a challenge for clean technologies. Furthermore, discussions highlighted electrification as a key element for the sector’s growth and the competitiveness of photovoltaic solar energy, stressing the need to generate new demand to maximise this advantage.
Energy storage emerged as a fundamental pillar for the future of the photovoltaic sector, being considered “essential” for new solar plants and self-consumption projects. UNEF’s general director, José Donoso, emphasised the need for the Government to include storage in the energy auctions planned for early 2025. The urgency of streamlining grid connections and administrative procedures was also highlighted to attract investments to the country.
As an associated company of UNEF and committed to developing a more sustainable energy future, SÓLIDA was present at this important event, represented by our colleagues Fernando Rueda, Andrés Medina, Guillermo Vega, Irene Rivera, and Ildefonso Mozas. Their presence reinforces our position as a reference in the sector, with over 100 GW of global experience in photovoltaic projects.
